FAQ
What does E Hoʻi Mai Lole mean?
E Hoʻi Mai means “to return home,” and lole means clothing. Together, E Hoʻi Mai Lole represents our journey—and invitation—to return home to Hawaiʻi in spirit, culture, and connection.
Who founded E Hoʻi Mai Lole?
E Hoʻi Mai Lole was founded by lifelong friends Elyse and Nāpua, whose pilina began as haumāna at Kamehameha Schools over 30 years ago. Though we built our lives on different sides of the continent, our aloha for Hawaiʻi has always kept us connected.
What inspired the brand?
Our brand was born from the experience of living in the pā maumau (Hawaiian diaspora) and the shared dream of returning home. Each design reflects our moʻolelo, kāiaulu, and the deep pull of ʻāina, culture, and kūpuna.
What makes E Hoʻi Mai Lole different?
Our clothing is more than pricing perspective/fashion—it is storytelling. Every piece is thoughtfully designed to honor Hawaiian culture, celebrate identity, and remind our community where we come from and where we are going.
Who is this brand for?
E Hoʻi Mai Lole is for Kānaka and all who carry Hawaiʻi in their hearts—especially those living far from home but deeply rooted in aloha, culture, and purpose.
Where are your designs inspired from?
Our designs draw inspiration from Hawaiian history, patterns, landscapes, and lived experiences. Each collection reflects connection to home, ancestry, and community.
Is this brand connected to Hawaiian culture respectfully?
Yes. As Kānaka Maoli, we design with intention, responsibility, and respect. Our work is rooted in lived experience, cultural understanding, and honoring those who came before us.
What does “returning home” mean to you?
Returning home is not only physical—it is spiritual, cultural, and generational. It means remembering who we are, honoring our roots, and creating a path forward for ourselves and our keiki.
How can I support E Hoʻi Mai Lole?
By wearing our pieces, sharing our story, and supporting Kānaka Oiwi-owned businesses, you become part of our journey home. Mahalo for walking this path with us.
